Kronos receives NEA support to distribute free string quartets

Kronos Performing Arts Association and Kronos Quartet are honored to announce that we have received an Art Works’ Media Arts grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support our ongoing efforts to provide open access to contemporary string quartet scores and parts, recordings, and other instructional and study materials, online and free of charge through Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire.

Nonesuch Records has released Folk Songs today. Our new album features labelmates Sam Amidon, Olivia Chaney, Rhiannon Giddens, and Natalie Merchant singing traditional folk songs with arrangements by Jacob Garchik, Nico Muhly, Donnacha Dennehy, Gabe Witcher (of the Punch Brothers), and the singers themselves. The studio full-length also includes an instrumental arrangement of “Last Kind Words” by Geeshie Wiley.
