Stylophone + Dan Bau + Inuit throat singing?

On May 11 & 12, the Kronos Quartet continues its multi-year partnership and residency at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts with Women’s Voices, a program featuring the artistic voices of several contemporary women composers and performers. The performances feature the world premiere of All Clear, a new piece written and performed by multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer Vân-Ánh Vanessa Võ; the world premiere of Mosaic (from music of Delia Derbyshire): in memory of Connie Sterne, an exploration of musical themes by the late Delia Derbyshire; as well as three Bay Area premieres: Laurie Anderson’s Flow, Nicole Lizée’s Death to Kosmische, and Derek Charke’s Tundra Songs featuring Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq.

Fragile at YBCA - Eiko & Koma and the Kronos Quartet

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts celebrates Eiko & Koma’s long history with Bay Area audiences, its venues, its community and its artists with a two-week residency entitled Retrospective Project documenting their 40-year collaboration.  In the first week of their residency YBCA and the Kronos Performing Arts Association co-present the West Coast premiere of Fragile, a performance installation by Eiko & Koma and the Kronos Quartet. In the second week YBCA presents Regeneration, an evening of three of Eiko & Koma’s most iconic performance works.

Music of Vladimir Martynov: New Album Out Now

We’re pleased to announce that Kronos Quartet’s Music of Vladimir Martynov is out now on Nonesuch Records. The album is available on Kronos’ website, and includes an option to purchase a copy signed by Kronos and former Kronos cellist of 20 years Joan Jeanrenaud, who joins the quartet for Schubert-Quintet (Unfinished). You can listen to the full album through January 19th on our website. Unsigned copies of the album are also available from Nonesuch Records, which can ship internationally.

Awakenings: A Kronos Quartet Residency

In January, Kronos heads to the Barbican for Awakenings, an unprecedented week-long residency in London. Awakenings includes three concerts in three different venues, the world premiere of a new work by Valentin Silvestrov, collaborations with two London choirs (Trinity Laban Chamber Choir and the New London Children’s Choir), and a series of creative learning events with young musicians and the public.
