Beyond Zero: 1914–1918 at Viennale - Vienna International Film Festival

The Viennale is now in full swing, and we’re thrilled that they’ve chosen Beyond Zero: 1914–1918 to be a part of the festival. A collaboration between filmmaker Bill Morrison, composer Aleksandra Vrebalov, and Kronos, Beyond Zero: 1914–1918 was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I. Learn more and purchase tickets here.

Sourcing original 35mm nitrate footage, Morrison pieces together a unique visual exploration of World War I from footage that has never been viewed by modern audiences. The score, performed by Kronos and conceived by Serbian composer Aleksandra Vrebalov, uses antiwar writings, music, and art created just after World War I as inspiration. All moving parts come together to explore the darkness, anxieties, and hopes of the time, culminating in a unique contemplation of the first World War.
