UK Premieres & Special Guests

Since our last tour in the UK, we’ve gathered a bounty of new compositions and arrangements that we can’t wait to share when we hit seven venues in England and Scotland this May. Among the new works is a piece titled Seiche, which is a form of wave found in still water. Composer Martin Green, who is best known for performing with the alternative folk band Lau, will join Kronos on stage in London for the world premiere, as well as in Bristol and Edinburgh. He will play his new noise device, the “Kronososcillator,” developed especially for Seiche. Visit of our Concerts page to see our complete tour dates and locations.

Kronos’ Fifty for the Future commissioning and education initiative also makes its UK debut with Fodé Lassana Diabaté‘s Sunjata’s Time, Garth Knox‘s Satellites, and Aleksandra Vrebalov‘s My Desert, My Rose, each written for The Kronos Learning Repertoire. Also receiving UK premieres are arrangements of music by The Who, Armenian musicologist Komitas, and Indian violinist N. Rajam.
