Summer residency at the birthplace of the string quartet

The Esterhazy Foundation has invited Kronos Quartet to develop a summer residency for string quartets from August 22 to 24, 2016, at the Schloss Esterházy – the birthplace of the string quartet – in Eisenstadt, Austria. Quartets are invited to apply to participate in this unique learning experience at the castle where Joseph Haydn lived and worked for over 30 years by the deadline JUNE 28.

Focusing on Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire and other contemporary work that Kronos has championed over the last 40 years, the residency will feature three days of masterclasses with David Harrington (violin), John Sherba (violin), Hank Dutt (viola), and Sunny Yang (cello). Click here (.pdf) for more information and to learn how to apply.
