Orrin Keepnews

All of us at Kronos - the Quartet, staff and Board of Directors - are deeply saddened by the death of our friend and colleague Orrin Keepnews. Orrin produced several Kronos recordings, served on the Kronos Board for more than 15 years, and was a great mentor and friend. We value our long association and feel lucky for the chance encounter decades ago when Orrin and David shared a ride from a California Arts Council meeting in Sacramento and hit it off. We are grateful for Orrin’s wisdom, leadership, support and guidance over the years, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Orrin was a truly unique voice in music, and he will always have a very special place in our hearts.

All of these pieces were commissioned and premiered by the Kronos Quartet to critical acclaim in North America and Europe.
