Announcing the Kronos Festival at SFJAZZ: June 22, 23 & 24, 2023
Kronos Quartet hosts its annual hometown festival, showcasing pieces from the Kronos Fifty for the Future repertoire, and featuring performances by three guest quartets—Aizuri Quartet, Attacca Quartet, and Friction Quartet—and appearances by guest musicians Rafiq Bhatia, Soo Yeon Lyuh, Victoria Shen, and more.
Kronos welcomes new cellist Paul Wiancko in 2023, succeeding Sunny Yang, who joined in 2013
After ten years with the Kronos Quartet, cellist Sunny Yang will leave the group at the end of January 2023 to pursue other projects. Cellist/composer Paul Wiancko will join the ensemble in February.
Kronos’ Fifty for the Future releases the final seven works — the collection is complete!
As part of Kronos’ 50 for the Future education initiative, free scores, parts, and more are now available for works composed by Rafiq Bhatia, Peni Candra Rini, Bryce Dessner, inti figgis-vizueta, Barry Guy, Angélique Kidjo, and Paul Wiancko. The collection is now complete!
Kronos releases three more string quartet scores
