New “Clouded Yellow” remixes out now

We are thrilled to announce that Cantaloupe Music released two remixes of music from our most recent album Michael Gordon: Clouded Yellow today.

Clouded Yellow (David Harrington Remix) was produced in collaboration with Sunset Youth Services, a San Francisco-based nonprofit founded in 2003 to foster long-term stability and growth for in-risk youth and families through caring relationships and supportive services. This remix was created by Joel Tarman, Mali Q, Angelo Bishop and Kronos’ artistic director, founder and violinist David Harrington at UpStar Records, Sunset Youth Services’ youth-run record label and recording studio.

Clouded Yellow (Bill Frisell Remix) is arranged and engineered by Cantaloupe’s Adam Cuthbert and features additional guitar accompaniment by Bill Frisell.

Kronos featured in new Vietnam documentary

We are excited to announce the first screenings of The Whistleblower of My Lai, a film by Emmy-winning director Connie Field that features footage from My Lai: A monodrama for tenor, string quartet, and Vietnamese instruments and interviews with the creative team. Composed by Jonathan Berger, with a libretto by Harriet Scott Chessman, and directed and designed by Mark DeChiazza and Rinde Eckert, the My Lai chamber opera is an intimate character study of the My Lai massacre whistleblower Hugh Thompson. Kronos Quartet, Eckert and Vân Ánh Võ have previously performed My Lai at Stanford Live (concert version), Harris Theater for Music and Dance (premiere), Singapore International Festival of Arts, BAM, Cal Performances, CAP UCLA, Hancher and Holland Festival.
