Concerts and Residencies Galore

The past week has been teeming with Kronos’ Fifty for the Future activity, with a concert at Seattle Theater Group (Commissioning Partner), residency at Cornish College of the Arts (Legacy Partner), concerts with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (Commissioning Partner), and Kronos’ first ever Fifty for the Future coaching with students from the VSO School of Music.

In the masterclass, Kronos’ David Harrington led a young student quartet from the VSO School of Music in a lesson on Fodé Lassana Diabaté’s Fifty for the Future piece, Sunjata’s Time. VSO music director Bramwell Tovey also joined in on the fun, engaging with David and the quartet as they all explored the sounds of Mali. This was a historic moment for Kronos’ Fifty for the Future, and we’re thrilled to be able to watch as the younger generations begin incorporating these pieces and accompanying techniques into their repertoire.
