Kronos Performing Arts Association, Ragazze Quartet, and String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam PRESENT:

kronos’ 50 for the future weekend

for the first time ever, hear all 50 pieces performed in one weekend!
may 6 & 7, 2023
Muziekgebouw & bimhuis, amsterdam

In 2015, the Kronos Performing Arts Association launched 50 for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire, an education and legacy project that has commissioned—and distributed for free—the first learning library of contemporary repertoire for string quartet. During Kronos’ 50th anniversary year, the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam (SQBA) celebrates Kronos 50 for the Future by presenting all fifty works in one weekend: Kronos opens and closes the festival, and is joined by 9 other extraordinary quartets to perform the entire repertoire. Explore the SQBA festival page for more program details, tickets, and event passes.

SCHEDULE

THE WEEKEND IS DIVIDED INTO 5 PARTS, EACH FEATURING CONCERTS, TALKS, PANELS AND MASTERCLASSES.

ABOUT KRONOS' 50 FOR THE FUTURE

In 2015, the Kronos Performing Arts Association launched 50 for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire, an education and legacy project that has commissioned—and distributed for free—the first learning library of contemporary repertoire for string quartet. Designed expressly for the training of students and emerging professionals, fifty new works have been commissioned, and scores and parts, as well as supplemental learning materials that include recordings, videos, performance notes, and composer interviews, are available on kronosquartet.org.

Lead partner Carnegie Hall and an adventurous group of project partners, including String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam and other presenters, academic institutions, foundations, and individuals, have joined forces with KPAA to support this exciting program.
