40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION:
KRONOS QUARTET

The Bay Area’s Grammy-winning, world-renowned Kronos Quartet celebrates 40 years with new works by eminent old friends Philip Glass and Terry Riley plus guest appearances by guitarist Bryce Dessner (of acclaimed rock band The National), Chinese pipa virtuoso and longtime Kronos collaborator Wu Man, the sublime Malian vocal–instrumental ensemble Trio da Kali (in a sneak preview of a major new Kronos collaboration), best-selling author Daniel Handler, and others. The anniversary program also includes the work that inspired Kronos’ founding, George Crumb’s powerful Black Angels.
