ABOUT
This annual event brings together students from the San Francisco Unified School District, musicians from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Kronos. A student quartet from Oakland School for the Arts joins for the first time this year. They will all perform works selected from 50 for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire, an education and legacy project that is commissioning—and distributing online for free—50 new works for string quartet that are composed by 25 women and 25 men from around the world and designed expressly for the training of students and emerging professionals. This concert is the culmination of hours of coaching sessions between the middle and high school students, SFCM students, and Kronos.
Kronos Music: The Future is Now is sponsored by David and Evelyne Lennette and Andrea Lunsford, with additional support provided by Grants for the Arts, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, The Bernard Osher Foundation, and other generous donors. This concert is co-presented by KRONOS PRESENTS, a program of the Kronos Performing Arts Association, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
