About the album

This album collects three works by Danish composer Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen – “Moving Still,” commissioned for the Hans Christian Andersen bicentenary and featuring the words of the iconic Danish author, “Last Ground,” Holmgreen’s ninth string quartet, which also features manipulated recordings of ocean sounds, and a revised version of “Concerto Grosso” for string quartet and orchestra. What Gudmundsen-Holmgreen says of “Concerto Grosso” in the liner notes, could be said of much of his music: “What I’m looking for is a filtering of the familiar. The familiar seen through a prism.”
